Tanya Khordoc (Evolve Company)

Evolve Company has been a fixture in NYC’s indie theater scene for more than 15 years. Co-Artistic Directors Tanya Khordoc and Barry Weil have created and performed original works such as Secrets History Remembers, The Most Radiant BeautyBecoming, Evolution, and Mercy. They received a 2011 Jim Henson Foundation Grant to create their large-scale piece, Home, which has since been seen at the Henson Carriage House and at Dixon Place. They were also given the honor of creating the world premiere production of Motormorphosis, a play by former Czech President Vàclav Havel, as part of UTC61’s Havel Festival at the Ohio Theater in NYC. Their work for others includes creating puppets and models for UTC61’s musical adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle. Tanya created stop-motion animation models for Robert Lawson’s Hiroshima: Crucible of Light, and currently performs and voices the character of Phoenix on the children’s web series Rosie’s Place. Barry has created puppets and masks for many NYC theatre productions, including Funny as a CrutchDo Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and The Steampunk Haunted House. www.evolvepuppets.com.
