Lisa Devine

Lisa Devine is a proud Founding Member of the Theatre East Company. She happily serves as an Artistic Advisor. Her career has been shared between the world of Higher Education and the professional theater over the last two decades. Lisa is a Social Play Director, who specializes in New Play Development. She is an award-winning Off-Broadway Director who has worked as an Associate Artistic Director, Vocal Coach, Script Doctor, Professor, Corporate and Communication Specialist. In 2009, she directed the off-Broadway New York Premiere of Eye of God for Theatre East’s inaugural production. Her work with Tim Blake Nelson began with the Southwest Premiere of Eye of God at the University of Oklahoma. She directed the Midwest Premiere in Chicago for Profiles Theatre in Chicago, which enjoyed a 6-month run, received rave reviews and numerous Joseph Jefferson Nominations including Best Director. Other highlights of her directing career include directing Tony Award winner John Cullum, Oscar nominated Lou Diamond Phillips, being mentored by Tony Award Winning Producer Max Weitzenhoffer, hosting playwrights Steven Dietz and Stephen Massicotte, as well as directing several World Premieres including modernizing a musical in conjunction with the Richard Rogers Estate. A veteran director and acting coach, Lisa has taught at some of the top acting programs/conservatories including DePaul University, Rutgers University, and University of the Arts over 20 years. She holds an MFA in Directing New Works from the University of Oklahoma. This year Lisa was awarded Adjunct Professor of the Year at Brookhaven College and the NOISD Award from the State of Texas for Excellence in Teaching.
