Shadow puppetry, inspired by the Javanese art form brings the jungle and the characters within to life. The play opens with Alex under his sheets with a flashlight reading long after he should be asleep. And as he reads the shadows in his room come to life. He then becomes not just an onlooker but becomes Mowgli and the adventures begin!

Theatre East goes on a shopping spree for families in NYC shelters with Stockings with Care!

A riveting drama based on the life of a 19 year old slave whose 1855 landmark court case heralded the beginning of the American Abolitionist movement. Fusing race relations, gender relations, and socio-political drama seamlessly, PROPERTY examines the idea of personhood and the right of each human to determine their own fate.

The third installment of Theatre East’s Educational Program NEW RITES COLLECTIVE culminated in an evening of 10-minute plays centered around the relationships we share, and the experience and magic found therein.

10 students from Innovation Diploma Plus, Frank McCourt High School, and Global Learning Collaborative performed alongside 3 professional actors from the New York community.
